Project Description

A small project team had the challenge of bringing into service a new cruise ship to TUI. They were expected to deliver a secure and future proof IT infrastructure that would enable innovation, improve customer satisfaction and grow revenue.

 

TUI Discovery, launched successfully to its customers in June 2016 delivering on all of the above and winning the Cruise Critics Best New Cruise Ship Award.

 

The team achieved this on budget, on time and above scope. But their approach of building partnerships and relationships with suppliers will benefit TUI far beyond that of the launch of TUI Discovery.

It is remarkably sleek, faster and 110% more satisfactory for our agents to use. 100% scalable and re-usable, the same capability is used to sell and manage Energy, Insurance as well as Subscription based products like HIVE. This highly complex yet robust solution is an amalgamation of discreet capabilities, delivered in remarkable timelines. It is an astounding example of an initiative utilising latest SAP technologies like never before and at a scale unrivalled by anyone else.

Project Name: Huggies® South Africa VR Campaign

 

How natural are Huggies® Wipes? Natural enough to sprout a bean!

 

Huggies® South Africa (SA) needed to demonstrate the naturalness (natural fibres with 99% water) of Huggies® Baby Wipes. The idea was to sprout a lima bean within a wipe. The challenge was how best to directly communicate this.

 

"Virtual Reality?" – The first Huggies® VR video was created and used in-store and across Baby Expos. We brought a new technology to SA parents, while demonstrating the gentle care of Huggies® Baby Wipes, communicating key product messages and setting Huggies® apart from competitors, showing that not all wipes are the same.

Project Name: TUI Holiday Lab

 

Leading holiday brand Thomson is offering its customers an innovative way to find inspiration for their holidays by trialling a travel search tool leveraging IBM’s Watson technology. In an industry first, customers are able to interact via a simple chat interface to get responses in real-time, resulting in helpful suggestions of great holiday destinations or exciting holiday experiences.

 

The Virtual Assistant, with added personality, is designed to make the search experience more enjoyable and easier for customers. The Watson technology behind it is designed to learn from every interaction, to become smarter over time and provide more accurate responses.

Project Description

The Lookers Plc Fastrack Mobile project delivered an alternative E2E customer sales journey to the existing (Sales office based) desktop-based customer sales journey, enabling customer data to be securely captured via a mobile device. It was the first project-led Change initiative of its scale that actively engaged and consulted with colleagues across the business throughout the project life-cycle.

Adopting ‘Cloud’ alone does not deliver significant benefits for most mature organisations, Travelport has undertaken a cloud transformation programme called the ‘Open Distribution Model’.

 

This programme combined the compelling attributes of hybrid cloud and micro services with a number of other closely aligned technologies to deliver a next generation applications delivery and deployment capability for Travelport and its’ customers. Truly resolving all people, process and technology challenges to deliver a comprehensive cloud vision that is now the global deployment platform for Travelport, delivering global high performance applications at a fraction of the cost of conventional development.

Project Name: Cross Councils’ Implementation of Office 365

 

Project Description

Implementing Office 365 across three councils enabled staff in shared services to work from anywhere from any device. This delivered real business benefits of increasing staff flexibility, collaborating in real-time, leading to productivity improvement and upskilled staff.

This was a technically challenging deployment which allowed the three councils to maintain their independent Active Directory and log in details, and run the environment in a multi-hybrid mode, which meant they could connect their existing mail environments to the single Office 365 tenancy. This is the first instance of this implementation in Europe with the councils migrating 10,000 mailboxes and 20 terabyte of data.

The deployment future proofs staff ability to collaborate internally and poses a range of opportunities for external collaboration with like-minded agencies including the Metropolitan Police and NHS, leading to better quality service provision for citizens.

AstraZeneca has successfully applied a new innovative approach in conducting large-scale corporate events, using modern corporate IT platforms. The transition to a "virtual" conferences format helps our company not only significantly save budget while keeping the quality of education on the comparable level with face to face event, but also reduce employees traveling time, improve their work – life balance at same time. This was the corner stone to change 1000 employees’ mindset toward virtual communication culture and incorporate this culture in a business as usual ways of working.

Project Description

The ‘My National Trust’ project has delivered a responsive and intuitive online self-service platform enabling National Trust members to manage their membership online. Previously this could only be done via phone, email or in writing. Personalisation of content, events and places relevant to anonymous users based on their location and browsing behaviours has also been launched. The imminent delivery of single sign-on across the main website will further deepen the customer engagement by delivering content based on both online and offline behaviours, preferences and favouriting of NT places. The project has delivered foundations for single sign-on across NT’s digital products.

Project Name: Enduring Smart Infrastructure – Smart Metering Assets and Supply Chain Business Improvements

 

Project Description

British Gas has completely re-engineered and revamped its Smart Metering Assets and Supply Chain management solution with leading edge technology and innovation. The ‘British Gas Smart Metering’ (BGSM) business has now installed over 3.4 million smart meters and at full scale, around 3.5 million smart meters per annum prior to the 2020 HM Government mandate. Whilst being a major enabler for growth it was imperative that an investment of £2m+ was done in upgrading our Assets & Supply Chain solution to meet the heavy demand. We are extremely proud of the delivery which has exceeded our core values and commitment.

Project Description

The NEC Group has implemented Microsoft Office 365 across approximately 1000 users across multiple sites within a six-month period. This has realised significant costs savings in moving to ‘the cloud’, however the real benefits are being realised in providing the business with new, modern applications and technology to ‘Make Lives Easier’ through the ‘Smarter Working’ programme. This has revolutionised the ways of working of our diverse workforce. The programme was focused on delivering changes to ways of working through end-user adoption and has since been publicised as best practice at the Microsoft Decoded Conference in November 2016.

Project Name: Operation P.A.D.L.O.C.K

 

Project Description

We turned our employees into superheroes and gave them the resources they need to win the fight for cyber security.

Xoserve was not going to be outdone by Marvel, Fox or Warner Bro’s, we released our own super hero film which would help to train our employees to defeat the infamous villains of Shoulder Surfer, Phisherman and Hackerman all masterminded by their evil leader Dr Ransom.

A short Campaign which used humour, facts and responses in a current and fun way allowed us to engage with and empower each and every employee to metaphorically don their pants on the outside and ensure they are well prepared to protect the information they hold for their work.

Allstate was founded in January 1999 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Allstate Corporation, the largest publicly owned Property and Casualty Insurance Company in the US. Allstate specialises in delivering high-quality, low-cost technology and business solutions to its parent company, and is the largest IT Company in Northern Ireland.

We take Cybersecurity seriously, the implications for Allstate are huge. Our Cybersecurity communications initiative has been highly successful, it has raised awareness of the importance of Cybersecurity for the Enterprise, it has educated and entertained our staff and brought security into the mainstream within the company.

Project Name: A Weather Forecast You Can Speak To

 

Project Description

No one cares about the weather - at least, not directly. Often, people just want to make decisions. We designed a cutting edge Amazon Alexa Skill which, by simply talking to a device, helps people decide what they should do where and when. That way they can enjoy the best of the UK’s weather.

The Met Office issued the first newspaper forecast in 1861, the first radio forecast in 1922, and the first TV forecast in 1954. This project continues this proud history of being at the forefront of weather content delivery, opening up our content to new channels, millions more users and a younger audience.

Project Description

UK Power Networks uses the latest technology to improve the service to our customers. By installing 400 LightHouse power sensors to overhead lines in the East of England and South East of England, we have much more information about exactly what is happening on the network. We continuously monitor load and power quality, and when there is a fault we can identify and fix it even more quickly. As a result of our successful trial, the solution has been integrated with our network management system GE PowerOn and is now helping to keep the lights on for our customers.

Project Name: McDonald’s Global Technology & Digital Deployment Hubs Programme

 

Project Description

McDonalds launched the Global Deployment Hubs Programme in 2016 to accelerate the deployment of innovative Digital & Technology Solutions to Markets and Restaurants. This required a significant investment in IT development and a change to our operational processes and ways of working. Within a matter of months, we mobilised a global virtual team to set up the programme. Supported by our Technology Partner Atos, we have accelerated a blended IT deployment learning programme which has transformed the McDonald’s IT organisation and brought demonstrable value to the wider business.

Project Description

For a number of years IT was simply seen as a service provider to the business. Following the delivery of a multi-million pound transformation programme, it was recognised that IT was fundamentally critical to TUI. As such, it has now been categorised as a 'global platform' for the company, cementing its strategic importance to the business.

A complete organisation review took place within IT at TUI UK to ensure alignment to the strategy. This review indicated the need for more technical Early Talent within the organisation. TUI fulfilled this need by bolstering an already-successful Graduate Programme with a new Apprenticeship Scheme and has brought in their first intake of apprentices this year.

It is an exciting time at RMG. The 2016 CJ Automation programme was a compilation of projects tasked with the identification of applications suitable for automation. The programme delivered improvements in the processing of requests in the Back Office, Branches and Skybranch, improved customer experience, reduced customer complaints and delivering benefits to our customers whilst adding value to the business. Running throughout 2016 the programme responded to the requirements of the business in terms of prioritisation and delivered in excess of the initial target scope.

Project Name: Terminal 1 IT Safeguarding Project

 

Project Description

This complex Terminal 1 IT Safeguarding project encompassed removal, enabling and relocation of circa 10,000 assets and the continued operation of vital IT infrastructure. We successfully brought organisations, people, suppliers, technology and infrastructure together to ensure the safe and efficient decommissioning of Terminal 1.

The project team used a drone and 3D imagery to bring the project to life for stakeholders who were unable to visit the secure construction site. The successful delivery of the project was a critical milestone in Heathrow’s Masterplan to improve Passenger Experience scores and contribute £200m of operational savings as part of wider project.

Project Description

Admiral Group plc (Admiral), is one of the largest car insurance providers in the United Kingdom. Admiral’s Bolt Programme delivered the biggest transformation programme Admiral has undertaken. Bolt provided the business capability to efficiently offer multi product policies to customers and provide strategic flexibility, operational efficiency and customer experience through modernisation. This was required for Admiral Brands and Household. We have delivered Guidewire PolicyCenter®, Billing Centre, Online Quotation systems, documents (including online viewing), payments, claim system, data warehouse, infrastructure and migration system. The system was fully delivered in three years, which included a phased roll out.

Project Description

British American Tobacco (BAT) is the FTSE’s largest company. Following on from BAT’s award winning implementation of Outlook, Skype and a new mobile solution in 2015, BAT went on to deliver the world’s largest, fastest and most innovative implementation of Windows10, OneDrive, SharePoint and Microsoft’s latest office suite.

 

In only 17 weeks during August-December, 38,000 BAT users utilising 17 languages operating across 180 markets upgraded to Windows10, SharePoint, OneDrive and Office 2016.

 

This was achieved through an innovative change management strategy, with BAT users around the Globe self-upgrading, supported by over 1,300 change champions recruited from IT and business.

Project Description

The world of Digital Transformation demands flexible, agile, adaptive delivery of innovative IT solutions at a very low cost.

The 'HIVE-Subscription Project' demonstrates:

  • Design Challenge: How British Gas IS consultants designed an innovative solution to cater for lack of SAP-subscription capability within its SAP Enterprise solution suite. This eliminated the need for investment into new off-the-shelf subscription product and increased use of deployed capabilities.
  • Delivery Challenge: How innovative project management delivered the project within aggressive timelines thus keeping the cost of implementation low. This was achieved via parallel modular delivery phases while adapting and reusing existing integration capabilities.

The AstraZeneca Infrastructure Stabilisation programme has exceeded its goals in 2016. Created to reduce Infrastructure and Applications End of Service Life from >60% to <15% has decommissioned 5200 servers, uplifted 2500 servers, 950 applications spread across over 120 sites. Through introduction of World class platforms to enable Manufacturing, Research and Commercial operations and migration to the Cloud and Primary DCs, the service has drastically improved whilst reducing power & CO2 output. Delivered to the highest quality and performance standards with incredibly low business disruption as an enabler to the IT strategy of 'twice as good for half the price'.

Encompass, a subsidiary company of Allstate, requested an overhaul of the Pricing Engine for the Vehicle and Home lines, the Quantitative Research and Analytics team was given ownership of the entire end-to-end process. 2016 saw the completion of all aspects of the project and Encompass began to implement in 11 states in America. Its estimated this project has saved the company $3.5 million to date and with 6 further states intending to use the new tools in 2017, the savings are set to grow further in coming years.

Project Name: Office 365 Adoption – Email and Collaboration Stage

 

Project Description

Great Western Railway has embarked on a project to revolutionise the use of IT within its business. This is not just the deployment of a new email system, but the delivery of a new state of the art collaboration suite, MS Office 365. Enabling colleagues to use the new business applications on any PC or mobile device. The work was carried out by a small internal IT team, still maintaining the necessary security for safety and business critical data.

Project Name: CISCO Jabber

 

Project Description

JABBER is an Instant Messaging and Presence application, which was deployed to replace Office Communicator (OCS).

18,197 UK based personnel and key strategic partners were enabled, with over 6,700 users having enhanced audio/visual features.

It was also made available for home users via the Citrix proposition.
